High food production standards in the EU

The European Union has consistently ensured that safe and high-quality food is produced within its territory for decades. Both plant-based and animal-based products undergo rigorous controls at every stage of their production, from the field to the supermarket shelf. This article examines the steps the EU takes to regulate the activities of farmers and how this impacts the quality and safety of food.

The European Union Ensures Food Safety and Quality

EU legal regulations require farmers to adhere to the highest safety standards at every stage of farm management. These requirements include:

• Rigorous hygiene practices in the transportation of food, especially fresh meat, milk, and dairy products

• Continuous monitoring of animal health to prevent diseases

• Plant health care, including early detection and elimination of pests

• Ensuring that animal feed is free from contaminants

• Limiting the use of artificial colors, sweeteners, and preservatives to cases where they are absolutely necessary 1

Control at Every Stage of Production

Farmers are checked for compliance with sustainable development principles. They must use environmentally friendly techniques, care for animal welfare, focus on regional crops, and efficiently utilize forested areas.2 Farms may be subject to inspections without notice.3 Such inspections guarantee the high quality of the product.

Why Choose Food from the EU?

The multi-stage control process and detailed regulations are not just theoretical. EU farms must meet these standards daily. By choosing European products, you opt for safe and tasty food.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The “Taste Europe!” program, a continuation of long-standing promotional activities, focuses on promoting high-quality European food products such as beef and pork (fresh, chilled, frozen) as well as apples and their products in the markets of Japan, Vietnam, and Singapore. Strategic promotional efforts, including effective business meetings and efficient communication, highlight the unique features of European food — its distinctive taste, quality, and favorable climatic and cultivation conditions, while also emphasizing a commitment to animal welfare.

By enhancing the reputation of the European brand, we underscore the commitment of EU producers to employing advanced breeding and production methods. These practices comply with international standards such as HACCP, GMP, GHP, GAP, ISO, which ensure the safety and high quality of the products offered. The project aims not only to promote European food but also to establish long-term commercial relationships, increasing awareness of European production standards. The program is part of a long-term strategy to strengthen the global position of European food, opening up new opportunities for EU producers.
